Telephone Market Research Group In Stock Futures Funds Directory
TMR Inc. was founded in July of 1985 by Tom Ramsburg and Barbara Felderman. The early days were quite humble; the corporate headquarters consisted of a borrowed office in a friends real estate firm, and the corporate equipment amounted to 1 table, 2 telephones and 3 chairs (one for visitors). In October 1985 the company moved to 3,000 square feet of space in the Lawrence Park industrial district in Broomall, PA. By building a reputation for consistently providing high quality work, the firm quickly grew. In late 1986 a satellite facility was added to meet the expanding demand for TMRs services. In 1988 the company expanded again by opening a second satellite facility. By now the company employed 175 people. CATI interviewing was introduced in 1987, but paper and pencil interviews constituted 95% of our work. The company did not own a PC or a fax machine until 1987. In the fall of 1990, TMR moved the headquarters to our current location, and at the same time acquired a mall interviewing facility in Springfield, PA. The firm now employed 225 people in 3 locations. In 1992, Joe Calvanelli, TMRs current president, rejoined friends Tom and Barbara as a partner in the business. Joe opened a new TMR office in Parsippany, New Jersey. By this time CATI interviewing was over 50% of our volume. PCs started appearing on all project directors desks, and all offices had multiple fax machines humming with activity. The number of TMR employees broke through 300. In 1994 TMR opened a facility in Aurora, CO and split off a segment of our business into a new division, Sales Information Systems. SIS does lead generation and builds customized data bases for businesses. TMR, Inc. now became part of The TMR Group employing nearly 400 people. 1994 also saw TMR install its first e-mail system. By 1998 Paper and Pencil interviewing was nearly extinct and E-commerce was a routine daily occurrence at TMR. Survey information that was previously shipped out in boxes, was now being E-mailed to clients in a matter of seconds. Also in 1998 TMR sold our Springfield Mall operation to a national chain. 1999 brought yet more positive growth and changes for TMR. A sophisticated e-mail system more closely integrates our facilities and our clients. Our Aurora office moved to larger quarters, and a new satellite facility opened in October. A surge in our marketing efforts brought exciting contracts from 3 new fortune 500 companies. The TMR Group entered the 21st century planning for continued steady growth. New and exciting developments in Marketing Research and Data Base Management presented the company unprecedented marketing opportunities and operational challenges. A long term strategic plan, Growth Through Controlled Evolution, serves as TMRs road map moving forward to meet these challenges.
