For those of us who lived it, it seems strange to write about the history of the Hollywood Stock Brokerage & Resource, in the same way that it seems strange to talk about the history of the Hollywood Stock Exchange or the Internet itself. We are all aware that we live in historic times and are shaped by historic events, but only the most consequential (or conceited) of us are aware that our actions contribute to the historical narrative, are part of the great sweep of history. And yet thats exactly what happens, even if we dont notice it at the time. It is only at the end of things that we can look back and say with confidence that we, too, were there upon St. Crispins Day. And we are at the end of things. After nearly ten years, the Hollywood Stock Brokerage & Resource has closed its doors. No longer will its brokers stalk the invisible hallways of its imaginary offices, complaining that X-Men 3 only opened at a hundred and twenty-two million its first weekend, or that HSX mucked up the holiday weekend multiplier yet again. No longer will this site dispense its signature blend of analysis, technology and solid common sense to the rank-and-file HSX trader. Those days are over now, and its time to look back and figure out just what we were, and what we did, and why it matters.
