Quantitative Investment Advisors, Inc. (QA) started managing its first mutual fund in 1985. QA is the sister company to U.S. Boston Capital Corporation, which provides brokerage services to high net worth individuals and is the distributor of the Quant Funds. The Quant Funds were established in order to provide our high net worth clients an alternative to the standard fare of mutual funds that existed at the time. Instead of attempting to hire individual managers that would work as QAs employees, we chose to have our funds managed by subadvisers; selecting subadvisers that are specialists in their field. QA carefully selects subadvisers using a rigorous due diligence process, giving our individual investors access to high caliber institutional money managers to which they would normally not have access. The Quant Funds are available to individual shareholders by contacting us and through a registered investment advisor. Quant Funds primarily employ a quantitative investment approach, while also using qualitative analyses. A quantitative investment approach relies on financial models and computer database to assist in the stock selection process. Proprietary computer models are capable of rapidly ranking a large universe of eligible investment using an array of traditional factors applied in financial analysis. The subadvisers monitor a portfolio of securities for consistency with the investment objectives of each fund. The subadviser may also use qualitative analysis, due diligence, and fundamental research to identify securities or market events not otherwise captured by its models. Today Quant Funds offers four funds, broken down into two domestic and two international portfolios. The domestic funds cover small and large capitalization companies while the international portfolios cover foreign value securities and emerging markets.
