We are growth managers buying stocks primarily in U.S. companies seeking a combination of growth and value. Our underlying investment objective is risk-adjusted, long-term growth based on our clients’ specific needs, interests, and financial objectives. We utilize equities, mutual funds, and a fixed income component in accordance with our clients’ needs and their tolerance for risk. In some cases where appropriate, we will include private investments. (Please inquire about our new hedge fund of funds.). We seek to hold our stocks over one year to qualify for the more favorable capital gains tax treatment. However, with the volatility we have experienced since 2001, we have been more inclined to sell earlier where appropriate. We are always refining our market and economics assumptions, but we do not try to time the markets. As consultants, we will employ the use of other professional money managers to gain adequate diversification and asset allocation. This is a technique we have used many times with larger plans, i.e. retirement, endowment, foundations, and the like. We set long-term goals and would like our clients to think in terms of full investment cycles that have, historically, lasted three to five years. We advise meeting with our clients at least quarterly to evaluate our progress and review our targeted goals.
