GEMI NEWS is a monthly newsletter that provides information about recent and upcoming GEMI activities as well as insight into EHS and sustainability activities of its members as well as others. On April 22, 2009, 77 Chief Executive Officers from leading U.S. companies reported on their personal and corporate commitments to sustainable business practices in the Business Roundtable’s Enhancing Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future: 2009 Progress Report. The Report discusses companies’ commitments and activities to address environmental, social and economic issues to help make the world more sustainable, including developing new energyefficient technologies; providing safe, clean water sources in developing nations; and, creating business solutions that reduce customers’ and suppliers’ carbon footprints. GEMI is a partner in the Business Roundtable’s S.E.E. Change initiative, which was launched in 2005.
